Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is a smart, successful, and well-established surgeon. His expertise and intelligence in handling a number of cases of surgical operations were much admired so he seemed too confident and seemed arrogant.
Until one day he suffered a severe accident that made him experience damage to a number of nervous systems, especially in both hands.
Feeling medical treatment did not make many changes to his recovery and then decided to look for alternative medicine which then led him to an area called Taj-Room.
In the Taj Room he met Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) who had special abilities in healing methods.
Initially the method was opposed by Strange because it was not in line with the treatment methods he had studied so far, but various events were able to change Strange's view.
in the Taj Room itself was not safe because there was an attempt by Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen) to destroy the Ancient One's temple. Kaecilius himself is a former student of The Ancient One who prefers to serve Dormamu (ruler of darkness).
The situation dragged Strange into getting involved further to help The Ancient One guard his temple and made Strange learn more about sacrifice and humility.
This is then able to change Strange's personality to be better while taking on new responsibilities to protect the earth from the evil forces of Dormamu.
Morral message :
1. Time makes things precious
Some people consider time as an enemy. In this film, the student who turned into an evil named Kaecilius, was very disappointed with the time. Time takes all the valuable things in his life. Time made Kaecilius lose his wife and child. But, in truth, time has never been an enemy of humans. The time that makes human life valuable. By realizing that life is short, making people appreciate what they have today.
2. You cannot control everything
"Surrender yourself, Strange," said the Great Witch to Doctor Strange when he did not accept his "broken" hands. When watching this scene, I feel enlightened. Often, we do not accept things that we cannot control and make us suffer. In fact, by being heartened to accept all bad things, our lives will be happier. As told in this film, finally after receiving his "broken" hands, Doctor Strange was able to focus his mind and become a great wizard.
Good or bad is relative
